Awards
Air traffic at Hong Kong International Airport has grown by leaps and bounds since its operation in 1998. Edging closer to full capacity, we are counting on innovative partners to work together to enhance passenger experience and airport operations.
The Smart Airport Technovation Awards was first launched in 2018 to recognise our business partners’ sustained efforts in creating and implementing innovative solutions. Together, we can make HKIA the world’s smartest airport.

Retail ExperienceBeauty&You by The Shilla Duty FreeSince its grand opening, Beauty&You is devoted to enhancing customers' shopping experience with smart technologies at HKIA. Its own Selfie Makeup App, VR Journey and instore 360-degree visualisation offer travellers a space meant not only for shopping, but also for retailtainment, in discovering their very own beauty preferences. -
Training and DevelopmentChina Aircraft Services LimitedIn today’s aviation industry, aircraft maintenance inspection training is constrained by adverse outdoor environment, availability of aircraft, etc. Understanding that aircraft maintenance is critical to aviation safety, CASL has built a virtual reality platform to redefine the aircraft maintenance inspection training, so as to enhance its flexibility and effectiveness. -
Process AutomationCathay Pacific Catering Services (H.K.) LtdFacing airline tableware with little differences, the sorting and storing process is a real challenge for the air catering industry. At CPCS, an artificial intelligence based optical identification system was introduced to automate the equipment charging process. The system can identify over 500 tableware items and transport them to their corresponding packing area or warehouse. -
Operational ExcellenceHong Kong Air Cargo Terminals LimitedEfficiency and accuracy are highly critical to the air cargo industry. In view of this, Hactl has launched the Smart Cargo Locating solution to track the location of cargo with RFID-based indoor GPS technology, Visual Sensing on AR codes, and Smart Forklift. They have highly reduced the reliance on manual entries and thus enhanced operational accuracy. -
Integrated SolutionHong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company LimitedTo transform its business flow to a more quality and environmental friendly one, HAECO has wisely applied RFID, internet-of-things and Long Range Wide Area Network Technology into different levels of business. The integrated solution has made a big difference to both line services and airframe maintenance.
